Shirui Lily Festival

After a hiatus of consecutive two years due to Covid-19 pandemic, the State Government has decided to pick up the annual celebration of the State Level Shirui Lily Festival this year.

Accordingly, the 4th edition of the festival has been scheduled to be celebrated for four days from May 25 to 28.

The schedule was decided during the 1st meeting of the Organising Committee of the State Level Shirui Lily Festival 2022, held at the Cabinet hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, chaired by CM N Biren Singh on Wednesday.

Reliable sources said that ShiRock, a musical entertainment component of the festival, will be organised as usual. Unlike the previous years, however, the 2022 edition of the music festival will not see the performances of any international bands . The reason for this is said to be the re-emergence of Covid-19 outbreak in different parts of the world.

For a change, local artists, bands, cultural troupes and performers from the state and other Northeastern states would be invited to take part in the entertainment events, the source said.

The inaugural function would be held at Shirui village and the closing ceremony at Bakshi ground. All other festivities will take place as usual, informed the source.

It is learnt that the schedule of the upcoming festival was timed to coincide with the blooming season of Shirui Lily, Kashongwon, as proposed by the Shirui village authority.
